Industrial Structural Building Lighting (Imported 3D model from PDMS/PDS/E3D)

Post by yassercres » Wed Mar 06, 2019 5:58 am

In this everyday engineering consulting job, my dream was to import the 3D model developed in other platform (like PDS, PDMS, E3D, SP3D etc) and do task lighting.
Finally achieved it with lot of research and time and patience.

Your views on this accurate task lighting.

Very impressive! :)

I would really like to know how much time you needed for the rendering...

It completely depends on PC configuration. Since this a complex model (though it doesn't looks like) with numerous surfaces and DIALux currently takes each face for calculation which makes longer duration on a high end PC.
With Intel Xeon processor, 32GB Ram, 6GB Graphics card this rendering took around 4 hours having two light scenes (Normal and Emergency Scenes).
But it is really worth to wait. Client is very much impressed seeing this.

As per DIALux blog they are improving on calculation time while handling 3DS surfaces. Hope DIALux Evo 9 optimize the calculation time.

Hi yassercres,

You did an amazing job on the task lighting!
I am trying to achieve the same result using exported IFC model from PDMS software, place lamps and then do calculation without using construction option in Dialux evo.
Could you please suggest a way I can achieve this? Or how you used the 3D model directly to achieve the result presented in this post. I tried using a DXF file but the structure looks empty in Dialux, kindly see the attached image.

I will really appreciate your response!

Thank you.
